Wagwan (ft. Civillian)
By Leo Zen & Konka
I met Leo at a local BC festival and instantly connected. Once back home we traded ideas until one stuck, then we locked in and Wagwan was the result.
Konka and Leo Zen link up for “Wagwan,” a halftime drum and bass cut soaked in hip hop DNA, featuring the talents of Civillian on the turntables. The track opens on a chunky breakbeat laced with Civillian’s scratching, setting a raw, street-level tone before the drop arrives with a one-two punch of dirty bass and piano stabs that hit hard and fast. From there the track settles into a rolling call and response between the basses, wubs trading blows as the low end evolves and mutates across the arrangement. As the second drop lands, the track shifts into full drum and bass mode, driving home with relentless energy all the way to the final bar.
